Launched on June 17, the protocol, dubbed "Ethscriptions," provides an easy way to create NFTs and digital assets on the ETH blockchain
Inspired by the Bitcoin Ordinals, this protocol allows users to create "inscriptions" using Ethereum "calldata" within a smart contract.
Developed by Tom Lehman, co-founder of Genius.com, Ethscriptions aims to offer a cheaper and more decentralized minting process
Lehman’s debut, "Ethereum Punks," received a positive response from the community, with all 10,000 assets being claimed near-instantaneously
In addition, this protocol launch garnered so much user activity that the API interface for the official Ethscriptions website temporarily crashed
In just the first 18 hours, nearly 30,000 ethnographies were created
Currently, Ethscriptions supports image-only inscriptions with a size limit of 96 kilobytes.
