Ilyriad Games founder and Nethermind contributor Ben Adams has proposed Ethereum Improvement Proposal #7781 a solution to increase Ethereum’s speeds as well as for the better utilization of Ethereum block space.
The proposal seeks to reduce Ethereum’s block slot time from 12 seconds to 8 seconds.
As a result, Ethereum might see an increase of 50% in block creation speeds.
Ethereum currently witnesses trouble with block space utilization where a majority of its blocks remain 33% or more empty. The proposal if passed would ensure a better utilization and less wastage of resources.
The only issue in its implementation could be faced by validators who now need to have more capable machines to create the new blocks.
