Telegram’s creator Pavel Durov has unveiled a new in-app payment feature called the Telegram stars that also features the usage of TON crypto.
The tokens can be used to purchase digital products, and pay for subscriptions and online courses in the app.
Founder Pavel Durov also explained that the token “stars” would support the development of more mini-apps and bots on the platform which don’t require any further installation.
Telegram has more than one and a half billion users who rely on it for messaging, social networking, news, trading, communities, and much more.
This step has been hailed as a critical development that will aid in seeking a better valuation for Telegram’s much-awaited IPO.
