Bitcoin Runes are cryptocurrencies created on the Bitcoin blockchain.
They were created at the 4th Bitcoin Halving by Casey Rodarmor, who also created Bitcoin Ordinals.
Runes follow the success of Bitcoin Ordinals and are an improvement over them.
They are an improvement over both Ordinals and BRC-20 tokens.
Franklin Templeton says they will bridge the difference between Bitcoin and Ethereum’s DeFi capabilities.
