F1’s Mclaren Racing Unveils a Crypto-Inspired Car Design

A British Formula One (F1) team, McLaren Racing, unveiled a crypto-inspired design for its racing cars at an event in Singapore. The design is supposed to feature the MCL36 F1 cars at the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix(30 September to 2 October). It would also feature in the 2022 Japanese Grand Prix races (7 October to 9 October).

McLaren Racing created this livery in collaboration with OKX, a Seychelles-based crypto exchange platform. They mentioned in a blog post that they would be using this design on their cars to celebrate the return of races to Asia for the first time since 2019.

According to the post, the company is preparing the designs not just for the cars, but also for the race suits of their F1 drivers, Daniel Ricciardo and Lando Norris.

The design features the 'Future Campaign' as it displays McLaren's Fluro Papaya colorway with neon pink adornments. There are dynamic, cyberpunk-inspired engine illustrations along the livery. This design represents the emergence and growth of new technologies from the blockchain sector, like crypto and web3.

McLaren &OKX Collaboration

According to the CMO, this would be like the first of the many steps McLaren and OKX take together. Both companies are enthusiastic about further pushing the boundaries of their financial opportunities.

OKX would walk McLaren through the process of revolutionizing the metaverse strategy and the digital collectibles of the racing team.

In 2021,  McLaren hinted about its plan to build its NFT platform on the Tezos blockchain. Earlier this year, their automotive unit also discussed creating and minting non-fungible tokens of McLaren's luxury supercars in collaboration with InfiniteWorld, a metaverse infrastructure platform.

For the fans, McLaren is even presenting McLaren's Racing x OKX Future Mode for purchase on its store.

Zak Brown, the Chief Executive Officer for Mclaren Racing, noted that this campaign would serve as an attempt of the two companies to break boundaries and present a unique livery.

He also mentioned that Formula 1's capability to hold a racing event in the Asian market for the first time since the pandemic was something worth pushing their boundaries for.
