Coinbase's Chief Financial Officer Alesia Haas highlighted this development at a recent New York conference, a surprising move that has drawn mixed reactions from the community as a whole.

Coinbase Commerce has been active since 2018 and basically helps businesses to process crypto payments.
However, for Kamala Harris’ campaign, this new crypto-acceptance is a major step forward, especially as major cryptos like Bitcoin and Ethereum continue to gain mainstream acceptance via ETFs.
This most recent development could be seen as the Democrats' attempt to repair their reputation and embrace crypto.
However, the crypto community remains skeptical, as we will soon see.
According to Fortune, the Democrats aren't accepting the funds directly, as many initially thought.
Instead, the donations are coming in through the Future Forward PAC, a political action committee supporting the Democratic Party.
Even though this distinction between who receives the donations and who they are meant for is stark, Harris is signaling increasing openness to crypto.

Historically, the Democratic Party, under Biden, has been very cautious (if not skeptical) of crypto.

In line with these developments, the “Crypto for Harris” group continues to attempt to convince voters that Harris might be more lenient towards crypto than Biden.
Skeptics like Gumshoe, however, have stated that they’d rather “send [funds] to a meme [coin] presale.”

In the meantime, Harris' major opponent, Donald Trump, has successfully courted the crypto community and has capitalized on frustrations with the current administration’s hounding of crypto.
Trump has painted himself as more crypto-friendly than Harris, and as the election looms, the role of crypto in both campaigns could become a major issue.
As of writing, Trump currently has a 53% chance of winning on PolyMarket, while Harris trails at 46%.
