Axie Infinity is a Play-to-Earn blockchain-based game designed to reward players with cryptocurrencies and NFTs when they play it. This type of game is different from what is obtainable in traditional gaming ecosystems. Usually, the latter requires players to buy collectibles to use in the game, while they do not earn anything, nor can they sell their collectibles to others.

Axie Infinity has grown in popularity, and it is played globally. Some people, especially those living in developing countries like the Philippines, play Axie full time. The two major Axie Infinity coins are Axie Infinity Shards (AXS) and Smooth Love Potions (SLP). Both tokens are of the ERC20 standard. AXS is the native token of the platform, and the game needs Axie Infinity SLP to operate. Players earn SLP by carrying out in-game tasks and can use them for breeding new Axies.
How Axie Infinity Works
The platform has battle gameplay, where people battle their Axies against one another. An Axie is an ERC-721 Non-Fungible Token and designed to be unique. Each Axie has four different stats: Health, Morale, Skill, and Speed. These play a crucial role in Axie's battle mechanics since they decide how much damage the Axie can take, who attacks first, how much damage it can dish out, etc.
Axies may either belong to a normal class or a secret class. Normal classes are six in number, and they are Aquatic, Beast, Bird, Bug, Plant, or Reptile. They can be Mech, Dusk, or Dawn when they are in the Secret class. These Axies are used to engage in a battle and earn their players rewards.
