Key Insights:

  • Jambo is a mobile phone and a mobile network built on Solana.

  • It features a 12GB RAM and 128 GB storage with an inbuilt AI Chatbot.

  • Jambo also claims to provide these features for users via its app.

  • Third-party apps like Web3 wallets and blockchain-based communication apps also provide similar features.

The Jambo Phone

The Jambo is a $99 smartphone with an inbuilt Solana wallet, app explorer, and several other Web3 features. Marketed as the most powerful mobile phone, it has 12GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

The phone lacks network support, with 4G support only, but claims to be fully on-chain, having been built on the Solana Network.

The phone also features a pre-loaded AI model called the Jambo GPT. AI LLMs and AI agents have seen a very high rate of proliferation in technology because they can easily handle complex tasks.

Jambo is backed by top blockchain-native and private equity ventures like Coinbase, Hashed, 99 Capital, TigerGlobal and many others.

Jambo Network

Jambo addresses itself as the largest on-chain mobile network built on the Solana blockchain.

According to its website, the Jambo Network is active in 128 countries, has around 800k orders, and boasts almost 1 million wallet addresses.

Solana is a high-speed blockchain that can process over 5,000 transactions on its chain without any issues in real time. Theoretically, it can scale to 6,000 transactions per second. This makes the blockchain a top candidate for IoT applications like Jambo Phone and the Jambo Network.

Users can connect with the Jambo Network via its app and the Jambo Phone. However, given the project's new status, we advise users to use it at their own risk.

Jambo Token

The Jambo Token is a cryptocurrency issued by Jambo Network. It is issued on the Solana blockchain and can be bought from the Jambo TGE event or through airdrops. The token could is also listed on the KuCoin exchange.

In the last 24 hours, the Jambo Token ($J) has gained roughly 14% in price. However, its price crashed last week because users redeemed their tokens after airdrops and TGE. At press time, $J trades for $0.3745 with a market cap of $48 million.

Do You Need Jambo Network and Phone?

Considering the $99 price and the Jambo Network's global reach, it might seem like a lucrative deal. However, you can use this network's features on your existing mobile phone.

Most of us have already used mobile Web3 wallets like MetaMask, Trust, and Coinbase. Installing these gives you the phone's wallet features with perhaps much greater security.

To use an on-chain mobile network for voice calls, video conferencing and messages, users can use a Web3-based communication app like Minds and Secretum. The latter is also based on Solana.

Do We Need Phones Equipped With Web3 Features?

Clearly, the adoption of Web3 in common life has never been higher than today. More than 50 million people have a Bitcoin wallet, and a higher number of users actively interact with blockchains every month.

Jambo seems like a revolution, just like the Solana phone, and has addressed the limited supply of a Solana Saga Phone in the Web3 ecosystem.

Unfortunately, it is not widely tested and carries a lot of risk for its users. This makes it unsafe and opens the vulnerability to data breaches.

Given its popularity, we may see further OEM makers build such phones in the future. We might see more Web3 phones gain popularity and, eventually, top makers like Apple and Samsung embrace them.

Jambo Phone Review

We came into contact with a Jambo Phone user who felt the phone to be a lucrative deal despite missing out on features like 5G.

We managed to locate a user who purchased the Jambo Phone last year. The user claimed that the $J airdrop that he received with the Jambo Phone had been the deal maker for him.

However, the user did not clarify on the amount of airdrop received by Jambo. Yet, we managed to locate that 100 million $J tokens were airdropped to around 700k users which means every user got around $142 worth of $J tokens which gave them back more than what they paid for that mobile.

At press time, $J traded at $0.37.
