Jens Laugesen, the two-time IDA International Fashion Designer of the Year award winner, is back with a new Phygital Fashion project exploring the future of Fashion and the metaverse.Â
Initially trained in Paris Couture, the award-winning designer holds two master’s degrees in Fashion Management from Institut Francais de la Mode in Paris and an MA in Fashion Womenswear from the reputed Central Saint Martins in London under the guidance of legendary Louise Wilson.
An acclaimed graduate collection inspired by 9/11 named ‘ground zero’ launched his eponymous brand in London Fashion Week going on to win many awards, including New Gen in London and LVMH X ANDAM Fashion award in Paris.Â

He is recognised for hybrid design thinking, which has earned him numerous accolades throughout his career. Notable fashion icons, including Rei Kawabuko for Doverstreet Market and curator Judith Clark for the Anna Piaggi for the V&A retrospective exhibition, have scouted his conceptual designs.
Laugesen’s work is also featured in the permanent collections of various museums worldwide, including the FIT Museum in New York, V&A London, MAD Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, and DESIGN MUSEUM DENMARK in Copenhagen. Since collaborating with Nick Knight for SHOWstudio, and is today recognised as a pioneer in fashion-making through his love for the conceptual glitch.
In 2018, he re-launched his eponymous brand on a conceptual image level with ongoing support from the DANISH ARTS FOUNDATION, that have resulted in yearly fashion films that have been showcased in fashion weeks and film festivals in London, Paris, Copenhagen, New York, Los Angeles and latest Milan where the INECON/SOLARIS film is in the official selection.
As a consultant, he has collaborated with luxury brands worldwide, including Luxury Brands Calvin Klein, J Mende, Swarovski and bigger, more corporate fashion tech platforms like YOOX/Net-a-Porter, G Fashion Corp helping them with a newly formed KONsenX Holistic Design Collective that was launched during the pandemic and will also integrate creative consulting to companies working in digital and web 3. Most recently he has joined Hong Kong digital lab as Creative Director helping with creative strategies.
With the London Fashion Week Phygital event, the designer’s brand LAUGESEN is returning to its roots and will be relaunched as a UNISEX brand. The relaunch will be revealed at an immersive event at The Rowe, a former university building in Whitechapel, London.
The event showcased deconstructed wardrobe staples through the lens of technology balanced with artisanal craft. Jens Laugesen has always been passionate about the concepts and architecture of clothing, reflected in the brand’s signature tailored flap tuxedo jacket shirt and concept-led wardrobe staples.
The oscillating nature of METAMODERNISM defines LAUGESEN’s new phygital brand concept, striking a balance between the emotional and conceptual realms in a holistic balance, inspired by the worlds lock downs.
The brand desires to create long-lasting wardrobe solutions with a democratic, genderless fit for all. In addition to the capsule collection of wearable, democratic and physical unisex garments with digital transformations.Â
