  • Elon Musk announced the development of TruthGPT, a truth-seeking AI tool.
  • Elon says the TruthGPT will be a third option for Microsoft and Google's AI platforms.
  • Elon Musk has reiterated the risk associated with AI and amplified warnings using Artificial Intelligence tools.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX, and Twitter, has revealed his plans to launch an Artificial intelligence (AI) platform named "TruthGPT." This move is amidst the buzz and traffic that AI platforms are generating globally.

You would recall that in 2015, Elon Musk co-founded OpenAI, an Artificial intelligence platform. However, in 2018, he stepped down from the company's board to "focus on Tesla and SpaceX."

Seeing the unprecedented success he has achieved in Tesla and SpaceX, among other reasons, Musk is diving back into the AI ecosystem with the launch of TruthGPT. What could these reasons be?

Why Musk Wants an Alternative AI

In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Fox News Channel's correspondent, Elon Musk announced the launch of his new artificial intelligence tool. "I'm going to start something I call TruthGPT," he said, adding that it would "try to understand the nature of the universe and provide accurate answers."

The primary inspiration is that he allegedly wants the TruthGPT to challenge alternative AI tools by Microsoft and Google.

In his criticism of ChatGPT— an OpenAI backed by Microsoft — Elon said the platform is "training the AI to lie." He added that OpenAI has now become a "closed source" and a developed "for profit" organization with close ties with Microsoft.

He also said that similar platforms are unsafe, but his TruthGPT might be the best path to safety and "unlikely annihilate humans." He reiterated that even though he is "starting late," he would try to create a third option compared to Microsoft and Google's advancement.

Similarly, Musk accused Larry Page, Google's co-founder, of taking artificial intelligence with levity.

How Musk Wants To Go About It

Elon Musk is undoubtedly a "go-getter" who would give his all to actualize the success of this project. There are expectations that in the coming days, he will perfect all plans for the public launch and usage of the TruthGPT.

There are insider reports that one of the significant steps towards actualizing the dream of this alternative AI platform was to register and incorporate a firm named X.AI Corp in Nevada. The insider report revealed that Musk contained the name in March this year and listed himself as the Sole director of the firm.

Similarly, the firm listed Jared Birchall as the Secretary of X.AI Corp, who incidentally doubles as the Managing Director of Musk's family office.

Industry players say Musk has devised the tactics of amplifying fear and the risk associated with Artificial Intelligence to reduce the usage of rival AI tools— while he perfects his TruthGPT. His call for a six-month pause in developing AI systems could corroborate this, citing potential societal risks.

Significantly, he amplified the risks and reiterated warnings about AI (regulations) during his interview with Carlson. For example, he said, "AI is more dangerous than mismanaged aircraft design or bad car production."

It is, however, intriguing that amidst these criticisms and warnings, Elon is developing an AI tool.
