Artist Nanda Khiara has unveiled her ground breaking exhibition, Legacy, Perception, and Cherry Blossom Chronicles, which encourages viewers to explore their cultural heritage and the narratives that shape their identities and to explore and reflect on the intersection of fine art and technology.
Art collectors, diplomats, financiers, lawyers and supporters of multi-dimensional artist, Khiara, came together at The Nehru Centre to explore her fusion of symbolic elements drawn from her diverse experiences and unique visual language that explores cultural heritage and personal perception.
Speaking about the centrepiece of her exhibition, Whispering Blooms, Khiara says: “Imagine a breath-taking landscape bathed in spring hues, adorned with cascading cherry blossoms. Look closer and witness a metamorphosis: the ancient tree transforms into a woman adorned in a beautiful kimono; nature’s artistry mirrored in her form. This interplay between the ephemeral beauty of the blossoms and the timeless presence of the woman ignites a conversation about impermanence and enduring strength.”
In addition to Whispering Blooms the exhibition showcased other works by Khiara.
Legacy Misconstrued draws inspiration from Leonardo da Vinci’s anatomical sketches and his fascination with the human form and delves into the complexities of cultural inheritance and how traditions are misinterpreted and reinterpreted across generations.
Perceptions sees Khiara explore the subjectivity of perception and how cultural backgrounds influence the way we see the world.
Delivering a keynote address at the opening night of the exhibition, Lord Chris Holmes expressed his admiration for Nanda Khiara and emphasised the crucial role of technology and inclusion, calling them “golden threads”. A sentiment beautifully reflected in Khiara’s work.
A Fusion of Art and Mindfulness
During the exhibition, Khiara was joined by Mahesh Natarajan, COO of luxury wellness retreat Ananda in The Himalayas where attendees were able to immerse themselves in the artist’s journey and the concept of mindfulness, for a deeper connection between art and personal exploration.
In addition to the collaborators mentioned above, appreciation is also extended to international law firm RPC for its invaluable support in establishing Nanda Khiara as an international artist, to Ananda for offering a mesmerizing mindfulness meditation session on chakras and colour healing and PAWAs Zehan Albakri and Kamal Mehta for their contributions.
