The World Computer Hacker League: Building the Future on ICP
Published on

The World Computer Hacker League (WCHL) Qualification Round has officially come to a close, marking an exciting chapter for builders across the globe working with the Internet Computer Protocol (ICP).

With 18 participating countries, four competitive rounds, and a $300,000 prize pool, this isn’t just another hackathon, it is a global call to developers to build real-world, scalable Web3 applications. As the UK HUB, this was our first time participating at this level, and we are proud of the response.

Over the course of just one month, we engaged more than 350 developers, received 51 UK-based project submissions, and hosted dozens of events including DFINITY-led workshops, X Spaces, university outreach, and one-on-one mentorship calls.

From grassroots efforts at Brunel University to community collabs with Crypto Mondays London and ICP Mafia, we’ve been committed to activating and supporting builders wherever they are.

If you missed the chance to submit a hackathon project, don’t worry. The journey isn’t over. We’re now hosting ongoing workshops, community calls, and Discord sessions, offering countless ways to keep learning, building, and connecting with others in the ICP ecosystem.

Our top three UK projects, Vault Stamp, Bonded, and Ghost Keys, reflect the kind of innovation emerging from this movement: tools built for transparency, decentralization, and real-world use.

As we shift from competition to incubation, the focus now is on refining MVPs, preparing for mainnet launches, and unlocking the full potential of what these projects can become.

To every builder who participated, joined a call, or simply explored what’s possible with ICP, this is just the beginning. The next chapter is wide open, and we’re here to help you write it.
